UNISON's Local Government SGE Election 2026

What does the Local Government Service Group Executive do?

UNISON groups its 1.3 million members according to who their employers are and whether they cover Local Government, Community,  Higher Education,  Health etc.  The groups are led by their
Service Group Executives (SGEs) which are the decision-making bodies elected by all the members in their respective Service Groups.  Once elected the SGEs are then responsible for agreeing the strategy of the union regarding pay bargaining and all other matters relating to your terms and conditions at work.

UNISON is holding elections to its SGEs for a term of office of two years and its important who represents you especially during this period of soaring costs.

The Branch has nominated Rob again for re-election for the following reasons:

  •    With a 'lifetime' of trade unionism, he brings experience and knowledge to the post.

  •    His commitment can not faulted, members are always first.

  •    He will deliver on his promises, no one works harder for members than Rob.

  • He is not intimidated by the boss's, but always professional.

  • Recognises unfairness and discrimination, and will challenge it openly.

How the election works
Voting this year will take advantage of the new laws allowing on-line voting.  Every Unison member who Unison holds a valid email address for, will receive an email on April 1st.  You need to follow the guidance to allow you to vote.  If Unison does not hold a valid email address, you will receive your ballot papers by post.  If you do not receive a ballot paper, please check back as we will publish how to request a replacement, once that has itself been published.
