Dear Member:
UNISON, alongside the other recognised local government trade unions, submitted a pay claim to council and schools employers for £3,000 or 10%, whichever is greater. You and your colleagues were offered a flat rate pay increase of £1,290.* We think this falls far short of what you need and deserve.
Following our consultation, which delivered a clear reject mandate, our committee of leading activists have voted to proceed with a ballot for industrial action. We believe this is the next step towards an improved pay offer from the employers.
*For part time and term time only staff, the amount will be less.
What happens next?
We will be balloting affected members between 4 September and 16 October and we are asking you to vote YES for industrial action.
We know just how daunting a prospect taking industrial action can be. You are not alone. 375,000 people are reading this email too. We will be with you every step of the way.
Find out more about the campaign, how you can get more involved and read our FAQs on industrial action here: https://www.unison.org.uk/our-campaigns/fair-pay-now-council-school-workers/
How can I prepare for the ballot?
The most important thing you can do to get ballot ready is to make sure your details are correct and up to date. This allows us to keep you informed.
In particular, make sure that we have your correct email address and mobile phone number on your membership record so that we can stay in touch with you.

This is really useful - Thank you! 😀
