The starvation of Gaza

The ongoing atrocities happening on a daily basis in Gaza and the West Bank, have finally brought Labour's statement that unless the Israeli government meet certain conditions by the end of September, the UK will recognise Palestine as a state. Many of us, who have objected to this war from the beginning, will welcome this announcement, albeit many many months too late.
Unison has also come out with its own statement, as strong and forceful as many of the previous statements our union has made. Unison's statement describes the Israeli government actions as 'can only be understood as ethnic cleansing'. This has come after Israel ordered the population to 'deportation camp' built on the ruins of southern Gaza.
With orders to leave the city of Deir al-Balah, Israel appears committed to razing every remaining home, school, hospital and health care centre to the ground. Making Gaza unhabitable and then forcing the Palestinians to leave to any country that will accommodate them.
With innocent women and children being killed whilst waiting for food, the world cannot continue to ignore the plight of the population of Gaza and the West Bank. Recognition of a Palestinian state must happen along with an agreed 2 state solution. The West needs to press for this, and apply what pressure it can on the USA who are the only Country who can bring this slaughter to end immediately.
